OPERATIONS
Physical Plant Goal
hysical Plant's primary goal is to be a good steward of University facilities and utilities while providing outstanding customer service to the University community.
Responsibilities
The Physical Plant department is responsible for the operation, maintenance,
and repair of buildings and associated mechanical equipment on the Norman
Campus. It provides utilities to University functions and is the repository
for as-built and record drawings of all University facilities and utility
systems. It is responsible for Energy Management and accomplishes small
remodeling and alteration/construction projects for the University
community.
Basic repair and custodial services to "academic areas" (areas occupied
by departments that are funded under the Educational and General Budget
in the 1X2-7 account series) are provided through a central operating
budget at no charge to individual departments.
Extra services provided
in "academic areas" and all services provided to "nonacademic
areas" (areas occupied by any department other than a 1X2-7 account)
are contracted with the Physical Plant, and a charge is made to the
account designated by the department requesting the work.
Services
Physical Plant provides services in the following areas:
- Accounting. Call 325-6311.
Responsible for financial records and departmental billing for services provided by Physical Plant.
- Carpentry. Call 325-3060.
Construction and repair of woodwork, ceiling systems, floor
coverings, tile setting, plastering and masonry, and minor roof repair.
- Construction and Remodeling. Call 325-6411.

- Electric. Call 325-3060.
Repair, service, and maintenance of alarms and electrical systems, equipment, and clock system.
- Elevators. Call 325-3060.
Maintenance and repair of elevators.
 - Environmental Systems. Call 325-3060.
Repair, service, and installation of heating and air
conditioning systems, sheet metal, building automation controls,
refrigeration equipment, and water fountains.
- Hauling. Call 325-3060.
Moving service and rent of special furniture (risers, chairs, and folding tables).
- Lock Shop Services. Call 325-3060.
Keys and locks (see Lock Shop Services
Section for details of services rendered).
- Paint. Call 325-3060.
Interior and exterior painting, glass installation, carpet installation, Venetian
blinds, and draperies (cleaning and installation). Also provides limited upholstery service.
- Personnel. Call 325-6212.
Responsible for Physical Plant personnel records, staffing, training, and position control.
- Plumbing. Call 325-3060.
Repair, service, and installation of water, gas, steam, air, and sewer lines and gas-operated equipment.
- Preventive Maintenance. Call 325-6411.
Routine checks on structures and equipment.
- Roads and Welding. Call 325-3060
Welding and maintenance and repair of streets, sidewalks, utility
tunnels, sanitary and storm sewers, and runways.
- Utility Systems. Call 325-3060.
Operation, repair, and maintenance of utility systems of the Power Plant.
