Mission Statement
 ecognizing the staff of the University of
Oklahoma, Norman campus, have a sincere interest in and highest
regard for the continuing goals, purposes and functions of the
University of Oklahoma, it is the mission of the Staff Senate to
seek the active representation and involvement of staff in the
affairs of the University.
Membership
Staff Senate's membership consists of four
officers (Chair, Chair-elect, Immediate past chair, and Recording secretary) and 26 representatives selected by their respective
member groups.

Each staff member appointed through the Norman
campus is represented within the governance system by a member
group. Individuals classified as non-exempt (hourly) staff are
represented by the Hourly Employees Council. Exempt (monthly)
staff are represented by the Informational Staff Association, the
Organizational Staff Council, or the Administrative Staff
Council. In addition to functioning as autonomous organizations,
these groups choose a prescribed number of Staff Senate
representatives.

committees
Staff Senate may establish standing committees
to carry out ongoing functions of the organization. Currently,
the standing committees are Awards, Communications, OU Staff
Week, Personnel Policies, and Staff Professional Development. Ad
hoc committees may be formed as needed for specific purposes.
Staff Senate also has an Executive Committee, Committee on
Committees and a Nominating Committee.
University and campus
councils,
committees and boards
University and campus councils, committees and
boards serve a variety of functions which contribute to the
achievement of institutional goals. These bodies act in an
advisory capacity to the University administration. Staff Senate
is responsible for nominating staff to 16 councils, committees
and boards.
Staff Senate meetings schedule
All regular meetings are held at 1:30 p.m.
on the third working Wednesday of each month. There is no meeting
in August. Meetings will be held in the Scholars Room of the
Oklahoma Memorial Union (3rd floor, north end of building). The
meeting scheudle for the current academic year is available on the Staff Senate website.
