ANNUAL BOOK DRIVE
(March 1 through 25, 2011)
to benefit the Department of Veterans Affairs – OKC
and the Lexington Correctional Center Library

 

 

COLLECTION SITES

 

ON-CAMPUS:  Gittinger Hall (English Building)

Main Lobby - across from room 113

 

OFF-CAMPUS:  Skelly Fine Books (near the eastside Wal-Mart)

Damann Plaza – 865 12th Avenue NE

Hours:  Monday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. (405-366-3100)

 

Most books will be given to the various volunteer groups associated with our U.S. military, located at the Department of Veterans Affairs Hospital in Oklahoma City.  Each volunteer group will receive your books and magazines for distribution to both active military and veterans.  Some books may end up in hospital waiting rooms and long term care facilities while others may be sent to local and overseas military bases and posts.

 

Some donated textbooks may be sold, with the monies donated to the Lexington Correctional Center Library for book purchases.

 

ACCEPTABLE

All books, new and used, hardback and paperbacks (fiction, non-fiction, children’s, cookbooks, textbooks, etc.)

All magazines (no more than 6 months old)

 

NOT ACCEPTABLE

Audio Books, Video Tapes, VCR/DVD Movies

 

Please clean out your book shelves, drag out those old boxes of books, and help us pass on the pleasure of reading to our military men and women by donating your books.  Thanks.

 

If you have no books to donate but would still like to participate, we are also collecting monies to benefit the inmate library at the Lexington Correctional Center.
