Ways You Can Help

Attend Events

Attend a college fair, participate in a local recruiting event, or host a gathering.

Visits

Visit your hometown high school or a high school in your current city, visit with a student as a mentor/OU connection.

Write a Letter

A letter from an OU alumnus can make a big difference in the final decision about where admitted students enroll. This is a great way to start relationship building with the campus earlier, beyond the Admissions and Recruitment staff. Start by congratulating the student on their acceptance and then explain what the OU experience means to you. If you’d like, provide contact information so you can stay in touch and be a resource to the student.

Write Notes and Send Emails

We are happy to supply you with lists, postage and notecards if you’d like to write
short emails or postcards to prospective applicants or admitted students in your
geographical area or area of study.

Alumni Features

Every August, the Alumni Association newsletter will be focused on prospective student recruitment. We would love to feature you!

Alumni Fee Waiver Code

The OU Office of Admissions and Recruitment is asking for you to join us in an innovative program. With your recommendation, we will waive the $40 application for one prospective freshman you think would be a great fit for OU*.

The process of providing a prospective freshman an OU application fee waiver is simple!

You should have received an email from the Alumni Association with a one-time fee waiver code. If you did not receive the email or know another alum who needs a code, contact the OU Alumni Association at alumni@ou.edu.

After you’ve identified a great prospective freshman, share your one-time code listed with the prospective freshman and tell them to enter that code in the University of Oklahoma section of the Common Application along with your first and last names when prompted.

*While your alumni referral is greatly appreciated, we are required to tell you that referrals do not guarantee admission to the University of Oklahoma. OU utilizes a holistic admissions review process and prospective freshmen are evaluated on their academic merit, as well as a number of other factors.
