*Students who take the national CLEP subject examination in Freshman College Composition must have the essay portion of the exam (as well as the score report for the objective section) sent to the University of Oklahoma (Office of Admissions). The English Department at OU will read and score the essay portion of the exam and determine a final score for the entire examination. Prospective students are advised that the numerical score on the national score report from CLEP does not reflect the final score for this examination and should not be used to determine whether credit will be awarded for this examination.

Beginning July 1, 2010, Freshman College Composition with essay will be replaced by College Composition Modular which will also be a multiple choice and essay exam that will be scored by OU's Department of English as described above. The minimum score acceptable for credit in English 1113 will be a 54.

Correspondence about the administration of CLEP tests at OU should be addressed to the Office of Independent Study, 1600 S. Jenkins, Room 101, Norman, OK 73072-6507, phone (405) 325-1921. Questions about the CLEP program in general should be addressed to CLEP Services, P.O. Box 6600, Princeton, NJ 08541, (609) 771-7865.
