OU has more than 550 student clubs and organizations representing different academic, pre-professional, cultural, political, religious, and social groups. Through these clubs and organizations, students have an opportunity to participate in culturally rich and diverse dialogues, discussions, and programming.
The United World (TUW) was founded by a group of UWC students to promote UWC ideas and values at the University of Oklahoma. The organization provides cultural programming, participates as a group in campus-wide events and activities, and provides community service to the OU and Norman community. Additionally, OU has a strong International Advisory Committee that connects international students on campus.
At OU, we understand the importance of giving back and making a difference. The Leadership Development and Volunteerism Office helps to connect students to over 100 agencies for short-term and long-term volunteer projects. In addition, students have an opportunity to participate in annual campus wide service projects such as Arbor Day and The Big Event.
Finally, OU also values the health and well-being of our students, faculty, and staff. The Huston Huffman Fitness Center and Murray Case Sells Swim Complex open seven days a week to provide fully equipped recreational facilities and fitness programs to students, faculty, and staff. During the academic year, students can also participate in intramural programs, such as badminton, basketball, flag football, soccer, and table tennis.
The University of Oklahoma is currently home to 265 Davis United World College Scholars from 97 countries, representing 18 UWCs. For six consecutive years OU won the Davis Cup for enrolling the largest number of UWC students at any Davis UWC Scholars Program partner in the United States--- making the OU UWC Scholars Program the largest of its kind in the United States.
Having a large UWC community on the OU campus ensures UWC Scholars have a network of students to rely on when they arrive at OU, helping them transition to university, and supporting them throughout their time at the university.
Our Mentor-Mentee Program is one of the formal ways we connect new UWC scholars with upperclass UWC students. Each first-year student is assisgned a UWC mentor, typcially from the same academic field, not only as an academic mentor but also to be a resouce regarding university life and all the oppotunities on the OU campus.
Additionally, the UWC Scholars Program office provides centralized support and assistance to all UWC scholars and UWC community as a whole. In addition to assisting prospective students, incoming students and current students with all things OU, community events are organized to help connect UWC scholars to each other and key resources on campus.
All first-year students at OU are required to live in the residence halls, and almost all of our first-year Davis UWC Scholars live in the Tower residence halls where two rooms share one private bathroom. Students have access to 24-hour laundry centers, computer labs, social lounges, and study areas. Also, OU’s library is within walking distance from the residence halls. Dunham College and Headington College, OU’s first Residential Colleges, are close-knit and supportive communities that promote the social, intellectual and personal growth of OU’s undergraduate upperclass students. Modeled after residential colleges at Yale and Harvard, among others, OU’s Dunham College and Headington College are living and learning communities where sophomores, juniors and seniors can have their own neighborhood and create unique traditions and identities, stimulate creativity, and build lasting memories and lifelong relationships.
After the first year, students can move to an on-campus apartment. By far most of our Davis UWC Scholars choose to move to OU’s Traditions Square apartments that are fully furnished with a kitchen and washer/dryer. Students can enjoy the pool and hot tub, putting green, volleyball and basketball courts in the apartment complex. Also, students have access to a 24-hour fitness center in the clubhouse. OU’s national award-winning cafeteria, Couch Restaurants, offers all-you-care-to-eat dining to students. Students have 14 different dining options including vegetarian and vegan options, gluten-free, and many healthy choices. For students that are always on the go, they also can use their meal plans to dine in the more than 20 other restaurants on campus.
Luis Salvatierra, International Student Services Coordinator for the OU Housing office, works with all international students in the residence halls and apartments. He is a tremendous help and support to all UWC students and a great friend to our program. Luis helps UWC students navigate a variety of housing issues such as: check-in, meal plans, room changes, and over-the-break housing.

OU Health Services (OUHS) provides high quality healthcare right on the OU campus and is available to all OU students and members of the OU community. The Goddard Health Center clinic staff consists of board-certified, licensed physicians, physician assistants, a nurse practitioner and medical assistants offering a full spectrum of care in family medicine, sports medicine, and disease prevention and treatment. Allergy injections, immunizations, lab and X-ray, physical therapy and nutrition services are available, along with a Women's Center and LGBTQ health resources. The OUHS Pharmacy is located inside the Goddard Health Center and offers convience and savings for the OU community. Students can fill and refill prescriptions on campus and purchase other pharmacy items and apply their student health insurance.
