2nd Big 12 Workshop to Promote Faculty Diversity

Purpose: The workshop promotes institutional change for increased faculty diversity. Scheduled in conjunction with the Spring 2010 meeting of the Big 12 Provosts, the workshop provides an opportunity to promote diversity issues at the highest levels. Particular focus will be devoted to opportunities for synergistic Big 12 partnerships to better recruit and retain women and underrepresented minorities in the faculty ranks.

Teams: Ideally participation will be by institutional team consisting of 3-5 individuals and include women and members of underrepresented groups. An optimal team would have representation from the following categories (some of which may overlap in one person):

  • high level administrator (e.g. chief diversity officer, assistant to the provost, dean);
  • STEM department chair;
  • female STEM faculty member;
  • social science faculty and/or researcher;
  • ADVANCE PIs, co-PIs and staff.

Aspiring administrators are also encouraged to participate in the teams. The registration link provides an opportunity to designate one member as the team leader, who can be responsible for communications with the workshop organizers.
