is Alpha Lambda Delta?
Alpha Lambda
Delta is a national society
that honors academic excellence
during a student's first year
at college. Founded in 1924
at the University of Illinois,
Alpha Lambda Delta has over
230 chapters across the United
States and has initiated over
650,000 students.
What
does the OU chapter do?
Our members
have organized and participated
in numerous community service
events including such events
as the Big Event, Relay for
Life, and Habitat for Humanity's
Shack-a-Thon. Our chapter
has also organized events
to assist freshman in moving
into their new dorms as they
arrive at the university and
events to recognize and reward
students for their academic
endeavors.
Who
is eligible to join?
Students are
eligible to join during their
freshman year upon the completion
of 12 (for spring initiation)
or 24 (for fall initiation)
letter graded hours with a
combined OU GPA of at least
3.5.
How
much are membership dues?
Students need
only pay $40 to gain lifetime
membership in the University
of Oklahoma chapter of Alpha
Lambda Delta.
What
are the benefits of joining?
Students who
join Alpha Lambda Delta gain
the distinction of being a
part of a national organization
recognized for outstanding
academic achievement. As a
member, students are eligible
to compete for numerous chapter
scholarships as well as the
prestigious Trow Undergraduate
scholarships or national Graduate
Fellowships. Finally, members
will have the opportunity
to participate in the chapter's
numerous service events and
to gain valuable leadership
experience through becoming
an officer.
How
do I become a member?
Eligible members
can join by submitting a membership
application along with a $40
check for lifetime membership
dues. For more information

I
am a transfer student. Can
I still join?
Transfer students
are still eligible to join
if the institution from which
they transferred did not have
an Alpha Lambda Delta chapter.
These transfer students will
be able to join upon completion
of 12 letter graded hours
with a cumulative GPA of at
least 3.5
How
do I become an officer?
Information
meetings will be held during
the spring semester to announce
the leadership positions that
are open for new members and
to discuss the roles and responsibilities
of each of those positions.
Members are required to attend
at least one information meeting
to be eligible for officer
induction.
How
do I apply for scholarships?
Just by becoming
a member you may be eligible
to apply for our numerous
chapter and national scholarships.
Most of these scholarships
require applicants to meet
a minimum GPA requirement
and to have earned a minimum
number of credit hours at

How
do I find out about events
and deadlines?
Events such
as the initiation ceremonies
and service opportunities
as well as deadlines for scholarship
or membership applications
are made available online
for easy reference at our

Page. Members will also

stay up-to-date on our chapters
events and activities.
