Points

University of Oklahoma chapter members can earn service points by participating in ALD activities and events. These service points are used in part to assess for scholarship purposes how active members are in the OU chapter. For a list of upcoming opportunities that members can get involved in, see below.

Below is a list of points that ALD members have earned in the spring initiation ceremony setup and other events for the '08-'09 school year.

Upcoming Service Opportunities

There are a number of service events that chapter members can become involved in to help out the university and surrounding community. For further information on any of these events contact Service Co-Chairs Kathy Luong and Lauren Leach.

  • ALD needs your help in setting up the OU Field House for the spring initiation ceremony. Volunteers will be meeting at 5:00 pm on Friday, March 28, in the Field House. The event should last until 6:30. Contact the Service Co-Chairs to sign up for this event.
  • The Big Event. ALD is participating in the annual Big Event service activity. The event will be held on the morning of April 5. Members must sign up with ALD to receive service points.
  • Attend scheduled meetings. Our chapter holds several meetings throughout the semester. Attending these meetings is a great way to learn about upcoming events and even to participate in smaller activities. Chapter meetings will be posted on the website calender as soon as they are announced.
  • Help publicize ALD events. Members can help spread the word about our numerous activities by participating in chalking opportunities. Members will meet at specified times and write (with chalk) simple messages informing students of upcoming ALD events. Contact Publicity Chairs Erica Brown and Safia Jaliawala if you wish to help out with publicizing events.
  • Subscribe to World Literature Today. Now in its 80th year of publication World Literature Today is the OU international literary magazine. WLT has interviews and original poetry and fiction from around the globe, lively essays on writers and regional trends, authors on books that changed their lives, travel writing, a column on children's literature, and coverage of controversies and conferences. Recently, WLT has expanded it’s view, including coverage of art, music, film, dance and theater. When you subscribe, you’ll receive six issues for just $20 (with $3 going to support your organization). Members can support this OU tradition and Alpha Lambda Delta by filling out the subscription form and turning it in to Dr. Lanning in University College, Carnegie Building 100.
