2010 Alumni Directory Project

The University of Oklahoma (OU) Alumni Association is in the process of creating a new printed alumni directory! Over the next couple of months, Publishing Concepts, Inc. (PCI) will be contacting alumni like you via mail, phone, and e-mail to request that you update your information. We understand that you might not want to provide your information to just anyone, so we want you to know that their request for your information is legitimate. Scientist named Howard Hughes Medical Institute Early Career Scientist

Dr. Russell DeBose-Boyd, associate professor of molecular genetics at UT Southwestern Medical Center, has been appointed a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Early Career Scientist. A native of Boswell, Okla., Dr. DeBose-Boyd received his doctorate in biochemistry and molecular biology from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. Fond Farewell to Paul Sharp, former OU President

OU’s ninth president, Paul F. Sharp, who successfully guided the University through six-and-a-half of its most turbulent years, passed away Feb. 19 at his Norman home. Read more about Paul F. Sharp and his legacy.

With approval of the OU Regents in December, the University’s musical theater program was upgraded to “school,” making the Weitzenhoffer School of Musical Theatre the only musical theater school in the country. Read more about the only musical theater school in the country.
Weather Museum in the Forecast?
A movement to establish a National Weather Museum and Science Center is gathering steam. The proposed museum would feature weather prediction artifacts, scientific information on weather prediction and monitoring, and the history of tools, such as the radar that was invented in Norman. Schooner Sculpture

Want a limited-edition sculpture to dress up your home or office? Created by OU Artist-in-Residence Paul Moore, a 24-inch-long replica of “The Sooner Schooner” is now being sold. Proceeds support academic and athletic scholarships. Click here for more information on how to purchase one.
The Art of Scholarship Support

Noted Oklahoma artist Greg Burns has teamed up with the OU Club of Dallas to present the Sooner Montage Print Series. Money from the montage prints’ sales will provide support for the Club’s “Students Today, Sooners Forever” scholarship fund. Read more about Greg Burns and the OU Club of Dallas.
