ESPN SportsCenter anchor Linda Cohn will be the featured speaker for The Delta Gamma Foundation Lectureship in Values and Ethics at 7 p.m. Nov. 20 in the Molly Shi Boren Ballroom of Oklahoma Memorial Union, 900 Asp Ave.
Cohn joined ESPN in 1992 and has performed a variety of roles for the 24-hour sports network. Earlier this year, she published her first book, Cohn-Head: A No-Holds-Barred Account of Breaking into the Boy's Club.
Cohn was the first full-time female sports anchor on a national radio network (ABC) in 1987, and also was a sports anchor for the ABC Radio Network and for WABC TalkRadio.
A graduate of SUNY at Oswego, Cohn is an inductee of the National Jewish Sports Hall of Fame and the SUNY Oswego Athletic Hall of Fame.
In 2002, The Delta Gamma Foundation and Alpha Iota Chapter of Delta Gamma at The University of Oklahoma established a $100,000 endowment, managed by The University of Oklahoma Foundation, to promote a public forum for ethical exploration. The initial principle remains intact and interest generated from the managed principle funds provides funding for local lectureship events. A lectureship committee, which is made up of Delta Gamma, University of Oklahoma and community members invite noted speakers to explore ethics and values as they relate to business, media, modern technology, biomedicine, intercultural affairs and world events. Alpha Iota is one of only 14 Delta Gamma chapters and university campuses nationwide to make this commitment.
