Research: Race and ethnicity, identity politics, Native American Studies (North American emphasis), Mesoamerica (Maya culture), ideology, hegemony and subjectivity, race/class/gender systems, anthropological linguistics, language, and culture, indigenous languages (Mayan languages, Cherokee).
