The Kiowa curriculum was developed by Gus Palmer working with Dr. Laurel Watkins.

The Curriculum

Beginning Kiowa I:
Introduction to Kiowa sound system/writing, Kiowa noun classes, Kiowa verbs and pronominals (intransitive, reflexive, transitive), adverbials, numbers, demonstratives, conversational Kiowa & simple expressions, course includes language cassette tapes with lessons.
Beginning Kiowa II:
Verb classes and noun/noun phrase review, transitive verbs, dative, ditransitive,Kiowa Indian culture, Kiowas (includes individuals, traditions, history, etc.), student presentations on Kiowa culture & language.
Intermediate Kiowa III:
Overview of verbs & pronominals, tense, aspect, mood particles, functional, content words, complex sentences, storytelling mode, oral narratives, conversation .

NOTE: As a part of the instruction, conversational Kiowa is included in all courses. The course includes an introductory text, which includes a Kiowa lexicon, verbs, and exercises. Another text accompanies cassette tapes (lesson 1-12) for Beginning Kiowa I. A Kiowa textbook is currently being planned for publication in the future. Aho!
