BOBBY BLOSSOM
Passed away June 6, 2005.

To the great sadness of his colleagues, students, and friends, Bobby Blossom, Cherokee instructor at the University of Oklahoma, passed away on June 6, 2001. Services were held on June 9 at Little Rock Baptist Church in Locust Grove. 

Bobby Blossom was born in Claremore, Oklahoma to a monolingual Cherokee family.  After finishing school, he went into the army. He began teaching Cherokee at the University of Oklahoma in 1994 where he was also enrolled in OU's certificate program in Applied Linguistics, with a specialization in American-Indian languages. He taught Cherokee in several community programs and was working on a Cherokee dictionary with Laura Anderson and Onita Lynch.
