GRANTS

*Information Infrastructure Grants. The Commerce Department's National
Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) has announced
the 1998 round of the Telecommunications and Information Infrastructure
Assistance Program (TIIAP). This is a competitive matching grant
program, in which approximately $17 million is available. Deadline for
submitting applications is 9:00 pm EST, March 12, 1998. For more

POSITION ANNOUNCEMENTS

*Assistant Professor, Digital Media Arts and Technology, Department of
Telecommunication, Michigan State University. Responsible for
introductory and advanced courses in multimedia production, digital
media arts, telecommunication technology, virtual environment design,

*Name Change. The American Council on Education (ACE) has announced a
name change for their program foremerly known as ACE/PONSI (Program on

CONFERENCE SPOTLIGHT

*ALN Workshop: Creating Courses Online. Asynchronous Learning Network
(ALN) is pleased to announce the third offering of their very successful
workshop on creating courses online starting on March 2, 1998 and
running for six weeks. Persons who have completed the workshop have been
quite pleased and have created online courses in many different
disciplines. The focus is on use of Microsoft FrontPage for creating a
number of standard online course constructs such as syllabi, assignments
pages, portfolios, use of audio, slides, etc. At the end of this online
course, students will be well on their way to completing an online
course. Expect to spend 10 to 20 hours a week to enjoy the full benefit.
