Georgia O'Keeffe (U.S., 1887-1986)
Cos Cob, 1926
Oil on canvas
16" x 12"
State Department Collection, Purchase,
War Assets Administration, 1948

Cos Cob takes its name from a Connecticut town in which Georgia O'Keeffe once spent time. The painting is typical of the artist's interest in up-close portraits of flora--in this case, skunk cabbage from an early spring garden.
