The 7th Annual OU Arts Classic Run, Ride & Roll for the Arts took place on March 31, 2001, on the University of Oklahoma Norman Campus. Events included a half marathon, 10 km race, 2 mile run/walk, 10 km run/volksmarch, bicycle tours of 7, 28 and 45 miles and in-line skating events (2 mile and 10 km), with a wheelchair division. Proceeds benefit the OU College of Fine Arts and Athletic Department. The half marathon is dedicated to the memory of Juli Busken, a graduate of the College of Fine Arts.

Claiming Medals & Trophies
Individual medals will be available for pickup at the dean’s office at the College of Fine Arts, 540 Parrington Oval, in Norman, until they are mailed to the winners. All trophies will be available for pickup at that office until the Redbud Classic, at which event remaining trophies will be available for pickup. After that, all unclaimed trophies will be retired for re-use in next year’s Arts Classic Run.

Champion Chip
For faster and more accurate results, the Arts Classic Run this year introduced the “champion chip,” which makes possible electronic timing of the events. Each participant in a competitive event was assigned a specific chip to be attached to his or her shoe.

Volksmarch
A noncompetitive, AVA sanctioned 10 km walk for enjoying the course without running. Visit the AVA website for information about walking as a sport and the Frontier Walkers website for information about walking events in Oklahoma.

Clydesdales
The Arts Classic Half Marathon is also part of the 2001 USA
Clydesdale & Filly Racing Federation–Oklahoma Championship Race Series. This division allows larger athletes to compete in weight brackets.
