CHARTER - ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF COUNCIL
The University of Oklahoma
ARTICLE I. NAME OF ORGANIZATION
The name of the organization is the "Administrative
Staff council of the University of Oklahoma."
ARTICLE II. PURPOSE OF THE ORGANIZATION
The Administrative Staff Council (ASC) is organized
for the purpose of promoting mutual interest and
understanding within the University community,
and among the offices and individuals represented;
to analyze and discuss general policies of the
University; and to act as an advisory group in the
affairs of the University, acting through the Staff
Senate.
ARTICLE III. MEMBERSHIP
Membership shall be composed of persons of
Administrative staff status as determined by staff
appointment at the University of Oklahoma -
Norman Campus. a listing of titles and present
incumbents is available from the office of the Staff
Senate.
ARTICLE IV. ELECTED OFFICERS
The officers shall be President, Vice-President,
Secretary and Staff Senate Representative, each to be
elected at the May meeting in accordance with Article
VII for a one-year term, to assume office on August
1.
The President shall
(1) serve as presiding officer,
(2) execute any document authorized by the Council,
(3) collect, or have collected, and disburse the funds
authorized by the Council, and (4) maintain records
of these activities and transactions.
The Vice-
President shall preside in the absence of the President
and serve as Program Chair. If the President is
unable to serve in that capacity, the Vice-President
shall assume the position of President.
The Secretaryshall
(1) keep the records and minutes of the Council meetings and the Office of the President, and
(2) edit
a monthly newsletter for ASC members. In case of a
resignation of the Vice-President, Secretary, or Staff
Senate Representative, the President shall appoint a
new officer with the approval of the ASC in
accordance with Article VII.
ARTICLE V. COMMITTEES
Executive Committee
The elected officers shall constitute the Executive
Committee for the council and shall report to the
ASC at each regular meeting any matters under
discussion. The President, Vice-President and
Staff Senate Representative shall represent the
ASC at the meetings of the Staff Senate.
Nominating Committee
The President shall appoint a Nominating
Committee in April to present a slate of officers at
the May meeting.
Other Committees
The President may appoint other committees as
desired.
ARTICLE VI. MEETINGS
Meetings will normally be held monthly, the format
to be determined by the Executive Committee.
ARTICLE VII. VOTING
Voting of officers, changes of policy, or other matters
requiring voting of the membership, shall be by
simple majority of the members in attendance.
