ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING

An undergraduate degree in environmental engineering begins with the same courses as civil engineeirng, but the last two years concentrate on environmental coursework. Other required courses include air pollution control engineering, water and wastewater engineering, environmental and occupational health engineering, and solid and hazardous wastes engineering.

Environmental engineers devise solutions to environmental problems. Areas of employment include water and air pollution control, recycling, waste disposal, hazardous-waste management, and public health. Their areas of concern are local to global and include acid rain, global warming, automobile emissions, ozone depletion and protection of wildlife.
