Testimonials
"The Career Planning class was a great opportunity to get a jumpstart on refining my resume and interviewing skills. I've always felt pretty comfortable with the process of getting a job, but this class taught me some things that I had never considered before. For example, I never realized how important a follow up thank you note was after an interview. After hearing from potential employers who came and spoke in the class, I soon realized that it can sometimes make or break you. Some people might say that the thank you note is just common sense, but it was something that I had always just considered a nice gesture. Come to find out, in some cases the thank you note has actually landed people the job over someone who might have been equally or more qualified. Overall, this was a great class and I think it's important to use all the tools available to showcase your abilities to a potential employer."

“Overall the class provided me with the essentials to entering the workforce, the do's the don'ts. The conversations/interviews that I thought would be easy when I thought about them before hand turned out to be difficult and intimidating when I actually had to do them and I'm glad they were just practice with a career services representative. The feedback I received doubled my confidence when the real thing happened. The resume help was amazing. My resume gets compliments from fellow engineering students and when they ask how I wrote it I refer them to your class. I don't know how many actually took the advice but I referred a pretty big handful. The class, in my opinion, should be a mandatory class Fall semester junior year. If OU wants the best reputation among hiring authorities, then this class will for sure give them the upper hand.”

“I took the career planning course during the Fall 2008 semester and am considering taking it again. I learned a considerable amount of information regarding interviewing, resume and cover letter critiquing, and even dress attire for business events. Going through mock interviews has personally been the most beneficial aspect that I gained from the class. Having other companies speak to us also provided other view points that I had not considered from the companies point of view in hiring new employees. Since completing the course, I feel much more confident and prepared for securing a job and would recommend it for every one. It is consoling to know that such a valuable resource is available for students.”
