HOW TO RECRUIT OUR STUDENTS

We utilize the Handshake recruiting platform to connect you with our students.  If you haven't already done so, you can create your Handshake account by clicking here.  Please contact our office at 405-325-1974 if you have any questions or issues regarding registration.

When building your company brand on campus, there are many ways you can recruit OU students:

  • POST OPPORTUNITIES ON THE HANDSHAKE JOB BOARD
  • PARTICIPATE IN ON-CAMPUS INTERVIEWS
  • ATTEND CAREER FAIRS
  • ENGAGE WITH STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS

JOBS & INTERNSHIPS

Our job board is reserved for posting full-time, permanent positions that require a bachelor's degree, or substantive internships that supplement the educational experience of OU students. The Career Center does not post or promote part-time or volunteer positions. If you would like to post opportunities such as these, please visit the OU Job Location Program Website where you can sign up for a free employer account.

We welcome recruiters to post full-time jobs and internship roles on Handshake. However, the following types of jobs will not be approved, nor promoted through our programming and events:

  • Positions that pay less than $15/hour (unpaid internships will be approved on a case-by-case basis)
  • Campus or brand ambassador positions, which require students to advertise to, solicit, and/or recruit other students on campus
  • Positions that employ students for a private individual or work-for-hire contract (e.g. babysitter, private tutor, caretaker, laborer)
  • Positions that require applicants to pay a fee or take on financial liability
  • Positions associated with the marijuana industry or other fields that may put students in legal jeopardy
  • Sales or customer/distributor service roles for multi-level marketing (MLM), direct-selling, and/or door-to-door sales companies
  • Staffing agency postings that do not disclose the organization for which they are hiring
  • Commission-only positions

The Recruiting Offer Guidelines were created by the Career Center to establish equitable time- frames for students and employers in the fall recruiting process at OU. It is in the mutual best interest of our students and employers to allow adequate timeframes for students to make information-based and experience-based employment decisions. Doing so requires the opportunity for students to explore a full range of employers before making a commitment. Our hope is that these guidelines will enhance the recruiting experience for both students and employers, as well as minimize instances of reneged offers.

PLEASE NOTE: These guidelines do not prohibit employers from extending early offers. They are also not intended to discourage students who have clarity about their options and are ready to make a decision from accepting an offer early-on in the recruiting process. The OU Career Center subscribes to the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) Principles for Professional Practice for all recruiting practices, and encourages all employers to familiarize themselves with the NACE advisory opinion on setting reasonable deadlines for job offers found here.

Select third-party recruiters –including agencies, organizations, or individuals recruiting candidates for employment/internship opportunities other than for their own needs –may post positions at the University of Oklahoma; however, they may not engage in interviewing, informational interviews, career fairs (without prior clearance from the Career Center), or any other type of on-campus recruiting activity. Third-party recruiters must disclose information as follows:

  1. Provide the organization/company name for which they are hiring
  2. Will disclose information upon request to Career Services that would enable verification that it is recruiting for a bona fide job opportunity.
  3. If the organization/company has already posted the position in our database, the third-party we will not duplicate the posting.
  4. Third-party recruiters may not charge applicants any fees.

The Career Center does not allow Multi-level Marketing (MLM) organizations to recruit through our office for sales, customer/distributer service, or any other role that directly supports multi-level sales. The Career Center will not promote franchise opportunities as jobs or internships. Additionally, the Career Center will not approve Handshake access for direct or door-to-door sales companies.

Parking can be a challenge on campus, but we have identified multiple options for your convenience.  When coming to the Career Center for On-Campus Interviews, you may park in the attached Union Parking Center as our guest.  Please bring your parking ticket in with you so we can validate it.  If the garage is closed for a special event on the day of your visit, we will provide a visitor pass for you, as well as directions to additional parking areas.
