HANDSHAKE FOR STUDENTS/ALUMNI

What is Handshake?

Handshake is career management platform that intuitively connects you to relevant job opportunities based on your profile, interests, and search activity. Through Handshake, you can apply for positions, explore companies and connections, and sign up for career fairs and workshops all in one place.

How do I access Handshake?

Current students: To access your Handshake account, click here. You can sign in with your OU credentials (Single Sign On) and begin exploring the system. All current undergraduate and graduate students have automatically been granted accounts. If you have any difficulties, please contact our office.

Alumni: To create your Handshake account, click here. Use your email address and create a Handshake password. You will receive a notification when your request has been approved and your account is active.

Is Handshake mobile?

Yes! Handshake has a full-version of their site on their mobile app. Currently, iPhone users can download it from the App Store. Android version coming soon.

What else does Handshake do?

Handshake allows you to schedule appointments online with Career Services Advisers and will even allow you to sync your calendar/events, interviews, and appointments in Handshake with your Google or Outlook calendar(s).

What if I need assistance with using Handshake?

HANDSHAKE FOR EMPLOYERS

What is Handshake?

Career Services utilizes an online program, Handshake, for employers who want to recruit OU students. Handshake is career management platform that includes an online job board, career fair registration, on-campus interviewing, and access to student resumes.

How do I access Handshake?

Click on the "Employer" option at ou.joinhandshake.com/register. You will be asked to pick your company from a list or create a new company. Be sure to use your official company email account. Any company whose email domain matches yours will be suggested. For example, if your email is "me@handshake.com", all companies using "handshake.com" will be suggested. From there, you can claim a company, create a company, or join a company. For more information, visit this page.

What if I already have a Handshake account?

Awesome! To connect with The University of Oklahoma, just sign in with your email and password, go to the "Schools" page on the left-hand navigation bar, and click "Find Schools" to search for OU.

What happens after my employer is approved to recruit at OU?

You'll be able to begin posting jobs, scheduling interviews, registering for events at OU, and connecting with OU students!

What else does Handshake do?

Handshake allows employers to search student profiles and resumes to connect with potential candidates. NOTE: Students will self-select whether or not they would like their profiles or resumes to be searchable by employers.

What are some of the perks of a having a Handshake account?

Handshake allows you to manage all schools using Handshake that you recruit at with one account and has a modern and intuitive interface built on the same usability principles employed by Facebook and Google for intuitive accessibility.

Can I create a Handshake account as a faculty or staff member?

Yes!

How do I request my Handshake account?

Click here to send us an email. Be sure to tell us what college you're with in your email.

Will I receive access to view the Handshake Job Board to find jobs relevant to my students?

Yes, the job board is available to view and features both full-time positions and internship opportunities.

Will I receive access to view the On-Campus Interviews to see interviews relevant to my students?

Yes, the on-campus interview schedules are available to view with your faculty account.

Can I request a classroom presentation in Handshake?

We haven't set anything up in Handshake to do this yet. To request a classroom presentation by one of our staff members, please contact us via email at oucs@ou.edu or call 325-1974. Please allow two weeks notice.

Can I schedule a class visit to tour Career Services in Handshake?

We haven't set anything up in Handshake to do this yet. To schedule a tour of our office, please contact us via email at oucs@ou.edu or call 325-1974 to arrange for a staff member to discuss our services with your students.
