BEAVER DUSTING FOR NANO-DIAMONDS
IN NO MAN’S LAND
Join us on a tornadic tour of NW Oklahoma and the Oklahoma
Panhandle, home of the Beaver Dusters. This Post-Plains tour
will leave the Embassy Suites in Norman at 12:00 noon on Saturday,
10/17/09, (eat before you board bus or bring a sandwich),
travel to Woodward where we will visit the Folsom-age Cooper
site and Clovis- and Folsom-age Jake Bluff site. After this
walk-in visit to these old sites we will be treated to an
awesome BBQ dinner at one of Woodward’s oldest, quaint,
establishments. You will then be ushered into motel rooms
for the night’s stay (with a fellow traveler—to
be arranged by, you guessed it, Beaver Dusters R Us). Breakfast
the following morning will be an expansive buffet of culinary
delight after which we will once again board the tornado express
to continue to the haunts of the Beaver Dusters. The destination
is Bull Creek where we will tour the 13,000 year old climate
record, beginning with the Allerod and ending with the Altithermal.
Here we will witness evidence of the areas’ earliest
inhabitants (3 sites), an exquisite record of climate change
(4 stream cuts), and visit the area’s only nano-diamond
mine. We then return to Woodward to pick up a box lunch and
continue back to Norman. We anticipate arriving in Norman
at approximately 7:30 pm on Sunday, 10/18/09. All will hike
approximately 2.5 miles each day over relatively flat, yet
varied landscapes.
The entire package, valued at $85/person, includes Travel
kit (T-shirt, guide book etc), meals, and double occupancy
of motel room,). Or $120 for single occupancy.
THE TRIP IS DESIGNED FOR 50 TRAVELERS ON A FIRST COME FIRST
SERVED BASIS. ALL RESERVATIONS MUST BE MADE BY AUGUST 1.
