Research

My scholarly activities focus on undergraduate education. As a faculty member with a joint appointment with Microbiology/Plant Biology and Biology, my job has a higher teaching component than most. I teach a non-majors general education course in biology (Concepts in Biology, BIOL 1005) most semesters. I also occasionally teach courses in general mycology and science writing. I am also the author of two general biology textbooks (Biology: Concepts and Investigations and Biology: The Essentials), both published by McGraw-Hill. Finally, I am very active in the Association for Biology Laboratory Education, where I publish some of my ideas and learn about new lab activities to share with my students.

To learn more about these courses and other activities, or to view a recent CV, visit Dr. Hoefnagels' Web Page. You may also want to visit her Teaching Nonmajors Biology blog at http://nonmajorsbiology.wordpress.com/
