Here's an idealized curriculum:
  • BOT 1114 General Botany [also fulfills Gen Ed, Core II]
  • BOT 2503 Plant Care & Cultivation
  • BOT 3163 Economic Botany (F) [GEN ED, Core IV Western Civ]
  • BOT 3534 Flowering Plants
  • One more 2 or 3 credit course (e.g., Field Biology, Plant Ecology, others....)

*BOT 1114 is a prerequisite for a number of botany courses and is therefore recommended. Students who have already taken BOT 1005 should seek dept. permission to take courses requiring BOT 1114.

**Please note that there is a 9 credit minimum in upper division courses.

Here is the fine print: Requirements for the minor include a minimum of 15 hours of courses acceptable for major credit, at least nine of which are upper-division hours. At least six credit hours must be earned in courses acceptable for resident credit by standards set forth by the College of Arts and Sciences, excluding transfer, correspondence, and examination (AP, CLEP, Advanced Standing) credit. Courses for the minor may not be taken Pass/No Pass. Courses used to fulfill minor requirements may not be used to fulfill the major requirements of a degree or the requirements of another minor. If the minor is officially declared, successfully completed, and noted on the graduation application, the student's transcript will so indicate at the time the bachelor's degree is recorded. Minors in botany are available to all OU students, not just those in Arts and Sciences!
