SAPOZHNIKOVA, TATIANA GENNADIEVNA. Ecology Research Institute, Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Kim-Yu-Chen St., 65 Khabarovsk 680063, Russia. - Rare and endangered plants species and they protection on the Far East of Russia.
The area of the Khabarovsk region (krai) predominates among all
administrative divisions of the Russian Far East. This area has
unusual relief, unque geographical position, specific geological
structure and climate conditions. Among 1965 vascular plants species
enhabiting on the area 195 rare ones are selected. They represent 10%
of the regional flora and 4,7% of the flora of the Russian Far East.
Among six endemic genera inhabiting on the far East of Russia four due
to be protected. There are Microbiota Kom., Astrocodon Fed.,
Popoviocodonia Fed., Magadania Pimen. et Lavrova. In 1992-1996 the
first data on dinamic of local populations of the rare and endangered
plants were obtained including the plants habitats explored in fist
time. There are Paraquilegia microphylla (Royle) J.Drumm. et Hutch.,
Valeriana ajanensis (Regel et Til.) Kom., Fritillaria kamtchatcensis
(L.) Ker-Gawl. and others. The multipal-levels system for the
endangered species selection was created along with the scale of state
of danger. The spectrum of limiting factors shows that fires are the
main factor of impact on the rare plants populations on the considered
area - 120 species suffer upon mentioned conditions. Than, following
the spectrum, loggings provide they negative influence on 78 species
(40%). All 195 rare plants species are surviving after antropogenic
influences. The strategy of rare plants protection has worked out for
the region. It includes the protection of genetic and floral
diversity, natural protected areas creation, improving the existing
measures of plants conservation, the Khabarovsk's Botanical Garden
establishing, intensive developing the GIS created recently for the
rare plants species of Khabarovsk region.
