Echinps species growing wildly throughout Fars region of Iran were collected and used for karyomorphological studies. Ninteen species were recorded for Fars.Somatic chromosome numbers recorded ranged from 2n=28, 30, 32 to 34. All are new reports for Iran. Thirty nine quantitative and qualitative characters were used for numerical analysis. Grouping of species were performed using cluster analysis and ordination based on principal component analysis. Species possessing 2n=28, 32 and 34 chromosome number each formed a separate cluster. Karyological analysis showed variations in details of karyotypes, chromosome size, etc. Numerical analysis of karyological data supported morphological analysis. The most variable chromosomes/ chromosome arms among species studied were identified using principal component analysis.
