Getting an MICROBIOLOGY MINOR is easy for a number of science/engineering majors!!
  • You may use microbiology credits to meet some of your Gen Ed requirements
  • Completion of a Minor in Microbiology is indicated on your diploma
  • You will undoubtedly impress friends, relatives and employers with your knowledge
  • Students with majors in any college, any department can earn a Minor in Microbiology, provided that they meet the usual entrance requirements of the courses

Requirements for the minor include: (1) MBIO 3813, (2) MBIO 3812, (3) MBIO 4833 or 4843, and (4) additional courses for a total of at least 15 credits. (MBIO 2815 may NOT be used as a substitute for MBIO 3813/2). A grade of 'C' or better must be earned in each course; the Pass/No Pass option is NOT available for courses counting toward the minor. At least six credit hours must be earned in courses acceptable for resident credit by standards set forth by the College of Arts and Sciences, excluding transfer, correspondence, and examination (AP, CLEP, Advanced Standing) credit. If the minor is officially declared, successfully completed, and noted on the graduation application, the student's transcript will so indicate at the time the bachelor's degree is recorded. Minors in microbiology are available to all OU students, not just those in Arts and Sciences!
