Concerning the inner exine layer (endexine) of the pollen grain, is there any sure evidence that it ALWAYS contains polysaccharides? Or, it depends on the species? I have got only one reference (from Knox R.B. in 'Embriology of Angiosperms', Springer, 1984). Anyone could learn more on this? Many thanks. Anna Speranza Dept.
