Plant Gametophytes: Evolution, Development and Function

The meeting will focus on the evolution, development and function of plant gametophytes with the aim of bringing scientists together to discuss current and future research efforts to understand all aspects of gametophyte biology. The scope of the meeting is intended to include gametophytes of all types of plants and how knowledge developed in diverse systems can be applied for the purposes of improving plant breeding and crop production.

The meeting will be held in the Centro Stefano Franscini on Monte Verita, Ascona in the southern (Italian speaking) part of Switzerland. Monte Verita was founded about 100 years ago as a colony of vegetarians on a hill above the picturesque city of Ascona. It has a diverse and interesting history, having been visited by many famous artists, intellectuals and visionaries. Ascona is a picturesque resort town on the shore of a beautiful lake (Lago Maggiore), which is only a 10 minute downhill walk from the Conference Center on Monte Verita.

The conference will be a great opportunity for all those interested in gametophytes to meet and interact in a beautiful setting. Please note that the meeting is THIS June and the registration deadline is very soon...
