When does life begin in a seed. Is their some kind of embryo in the seed even before it sprouts? Or is there a time when there is only potential for life. This really intrests me. Anyone know anything?

Sexual plant reproduction is the fertilization of an egg (located in the ovule [=immature seed] by a sperm cell [deposited through a pollen tube] after successful pollination. The embryo usually forms all of the organs of the plant in the seed, including leaf, stem and root. So the simple answer is yes, there is an embryo in the seed before it sprouts.
