Please list the instructor for each course on the Admission to Candidacy Form.

The selection of comprehensive examination questions will be based on this information.

 

The Admission to Candidacy form must be on file with the College of Arts & Sciences International Relations Program and the Graduate College prior to taking the Comprehensive Examination. SPRING September 15 January 15 to March 1

ADMISSION TO CANDIDACY FORM     

The Admission to Candidacy form must be typed or legibly printed and sent directly to the College of Arts & Sciences International Relations Program for evaluation. Once evaluated, it will be sent to the Graduate College for final approval.

Candidacy forms MUST meet all eligibility requirments at the time form is submitted for review.

ELIGIBILITY FOR THE COMPREHENSIVE EXAMINATION

  • Must be enrolled in at least 2 credit hours during the semester the examination will be taken
  • Must have completed 75% of the coursework listed on the Admission to Candidacy form (24 credit hours)
  • Must have completed ALL required courses. (Grades of "I" do not count as completed.)
  • All grades must be posted at time candidacy form is submitted. (Grades of "I" do not count as completed.)

 

Effective Immediately

This applies to all candidacy forms submitted for fall 2011

Students requesting to take comprehensive examination before all core requirements are complete are subject to questions they have not covered in class.

Dual Degree information-(IR/HR) may not use Human Relations in the core section of the IR degree. If you choose Culture and Communication as a core area both core courses MUST come from the core Communication area.

  • Human Relations courses may be used as electives.
  • Human Realtions5023 Research in Human Relations may be used as the research requirement for both degrees.
Please notify the College of Arts and Sciences International Relations Program if you have made a change in coursework after filing your candidacy form.

To assist students in filling out this form, a sample form is included as an example. Please use black ink or type form, listing the course abbreviation, course number, and course title. Please use a specific date from the table above for your exam dates. Sample Candidacy Form

  • List only the courses that will be applied toward the 32-hour degree requirements.
  • Failure to correctly fill out the Admission to Candidacy form and meet deadlines for filing this form could delay the receipt of your comprehensive examination and could delay your graduation.
