Student Society (SAACS)

Student Affiliates of the American Chemical Society

The Student Affiliates of the American Chemical Society is an undergraduate academic organization at the University of Oklahoma that supports students and faculty and promotes academic achievement, peer based learning, and significant involvement in the department. As a member of the OU chapter of SAACS, one will have the opportunity to attend regular meetings, departmental seminars, and events ranging from fundraisers like “Pie Your Favorite Professor” to the campus wide sponsored volunteer day, “Big Event”.

Leadership is a major aspect of SAACS as the officers serve on the Undergraduate Student Advisory Committee for the Chair of the department and the Student Advisory Council for the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences in addition to their respective duties as an officer. Members also gain leadership skills through involvement in Sooner Elementary Engineering and Science and representing University of Oklahoma by presenting innovating research at the national ACS meetings. Members who present research could benefit from receiving travel grants from SAACS, funded by the department, the College of Arts and Sciences and the President’s and Provost’s office.

We hope you will join us for a productive year of activities.
