One of the original departments at the University of Oklahoma, the Department of Classics and Letters offers the clearest path to a traditional degree in the Liberal Arts.
We offer two paths to the degree of Bachelor of Arts. Students in our Classics program study the languages, literatures, cultures, and history of the ancient Greece and Rome. Students in the Letters program follow a more interdisciplinary curriculum in literature, history, philosophy, and ancient and modern languages. Both degree programs prepare students not just for a variety of careers, but for life itself.
Students in our department enjoy a wealth of extra-curricular opportunities sponsored by our three student groups: the Classics and Letters Society, Eta Sigma Phi, and the Classical Archaeology Society.
