Peggy Chambers received her undergraduate degree in Letters and her graduate
degree in Latin from the University of Oklahoma where she has been teaching
in the Classics Department since 1979. She teaches the Honors Intensive
Latin course every semester in addition to a regular course in Advanced Latin
or Greek and Roman Civilization. She also is the Advisor for Letters
majors and is the recipient of six university awards for outstanding teaching
and advising. She organized/led summer study abroad courses to various
parts of the Roman Empire from 1981 through 1997 and is a member of the International
Programs Study Abroad Board. She is the author of the Latin Alive and
Well series of Latin textbooks, and is currently working on the fourth text
in that series. A $1000.00 scholarship has been set up in her name
by a Letters alumnus whose three children participated
in her classes.
