Biography

Peggy Chambers received her undergraduate degree in Letters and her graduate degree in Latin from the University of Oklahoma where she has been teaching in the Classics Department since 1979.  She teaches the Honors Intensive Latin course every semester in addition to a regular course in Advanced Latin or Greek and Roman Civilization.  She also is the Advisor for Letters majors and is the recipient of six university awards for outstanding teaching and advising.  She organized/led summer study abroad courses to various parts of the Roman Empire from 1981 through 1997 and is a member of the International Programs Study Abroad Board.  She is the author of the Latin Alive and Well series of Latin textbooks, and is currently working on the fourth text in that series.  A $1000.00 scholarship has been set up in her name by a Letters alumnus whose three children participated in her classes.
