David Mair, department chair, assistant Karen Jobe, and I have planned an intensive workshop to orient you to teaching First-Year Composition at OU. In addition to inspiring and challenging readings and course planning activities, we have speakers from across the university to help inform you about support services available.

Perhaps most importantly, we have socializing and community-building events on tap so you will get to know your colleagues and begin to form the lasting relationships that graduate study so richly offers.

Our hopes are that the workshop will provide a stimulating and supportive start to your graduate career at OU. We are eager to meet you in August and assist you in any way we can. We all hope this website will begin the process by providing you information up front to support your planning and teaching for fall in the workshop and beyond.
