Choose and respond to ONE of the following four questions:

1) Knoblauch defines four types of literacy. Discuss the ways in which the narrative and/or theoretical scenarios in two other essays fit into and/or problematize at least two of Knoblauch’s categories.

2) Many of the essays in our packet deal with "marginalized" literacy. Drawing upon three essays in the packet, discuss the relationship between culture, marginality, and literacy.

3) Politics, power, and ideology are important keywords in Knoblauch’s essay. Discuss how these terms impact literacy and/or schooling in two other essays from your packet.

4) Describe Knoblauch’s "critical literacy." Illustrate how this form of literacy emerges or is dealt with in two other essays from your packet.
