IMPORTANT DATES FOR SYLLABUS CONSTRUCTION

Important Dates for Syllabus Construction

THIS IS ALSO AVAILABLE AS A RTF FILE

Final Day of Classes: December 12
Finals: December 15-19 (check specific times below)

Holidays:
Labor Day: Sept. 1
Texas Holiday: October 10
Thanksgiving: November 26-30

Students can drop or change classes until August 29; until October 3, if a student drops, he/she receives an automatic "W"; from October 6 and December 12 (?), if a student wants to drop, you have the option of giving the student a "W" or an "F."

Pre-finals Week Explanation: During the last week of classes, December 8-12, assignments worth more than 10% of the whole grade cannot be due nor assigned; thus, you have two options for assigning the date for your final paper: a) you can make this paper due the last day of the week before pre-finals week, December 5, or b) you can have the final paper due when your students meet for the final exam. Unfortunately, this latter option gives you little time for grading.

We are emphasizing this new pre-finals week regulation, since students will be able to protest poor performances if you make this paper due from December 8-12 (they will certainly "win" these grade protests as well).
