Adrienne Jablonski, Director of Corporate Engagement for the College of Arts & Sciences has a very important message for all of you regarding the importance of starting career exploration and one’s internship or job search early in the semester. "Most companies that recruit in the spring, wrap up their interviews before spring break. This is surprising information for our students to learn, as they often wait to search for employment opportunities until late in the spring semester, oftentimes after they have decided not to pursue graduate school."

To help you get moving with this as early as possible, OU holds many upcoming opportunities for professional development.

    • These may take place throughout the semester and would be on your syllabus or organized as an additional bonus by any of your instructors. Make sure that if you are going to miss class for any reason that you talk to your instructor in advance so you don't miss this valuable opportunity, and help to keep you up on coursework
  • Lunch and Learn Meetings with Employers
    • Be open to attending employer/speaker/departmental sponsored lunches at which you will learn about their recruiting interests and will learn about your skills and areas of interest.

  • Student Club or Organization Presentation
    • If you are involved in a student group, Adrienne Jablonski can work with your faculty advisor to arrange employer guest speakers for your meetings. Talk to your advisor and make sure they are aware of your group's interest in this oportunity.

  • Career Development Presentations or Workshops
    • Adrienne Jablonski is available to speak to your class about job search strategies, resume development, networking, cover letters, etc. Presentations can vary in length from 20 minutes to an hour and will be personalized to address any career-related topic.
