Professor Petya Nitzova is a scholar of Eastern European
history who specializes in nationalism, identity and
minorities in South Eastern Europe. She has published
a wide array of articles on modern Bulgarian history
and the history of Islam and Christianity in the Balkans.
She currently works on a book length comparative project
focusing on European integration. Professor Nitzova
offers courses on the history of the Eastern Orthodox
church, Yugoslavia, and the survey courses on Nation-Building
in East Central Europe and Eastern Europe under fascism
and communism. She received a Ph. D. from the Bulgarian
Academy of Sciences.
