Chris Davis received his B.A. in History from Oklahoma Baptist University and his M.A. in History from the University of Oklahoma. He is currently a PhD Candidate working to complete his dissertation, "A Contested Glory: Race, Manhood, and College Football in the Southwest, 1945-1990," under the direction of Professor Stephen H. Norwood. His dissertation analyzes the ways in which cultural conceptions of race and masculinity shaped the development of one of the region’s most passionately pursued pastimes. Chris has presented his work at the annual Phi Alpha Theta Conference and at the annual meeting of the Oklahoma Historical Society. He has taught both halves of the U.S. History survey and looks forward to developing upper-division courses on the Twentieth-Century U.S. and the History of Sport in America. Currently, he is working as a researcher and writer for a History Channel project profiling “Unsung American Heroes.”
