Russell Day

Russell Day received his B.A. in History from the University of Oklahoma in 2007 and is currently working on his M.A. in the field of American history.  The focus of his studies centers on the cultural and religious history of the early American republic, particularly as it pertains to the mutable conditions of religion on the frontier.  Studying under the supervision of Prof. Kathy Kelly, Russell’s thesis has yet to be titled, although the tentative study will contrast the opposing dynamics played by religion in the nascent United States among those who wished to remain in the Union and those citizens, notably in Kentucky and Tennessee, who favored separation.  Russell has been a member of Phi Alpha Theta since 2007 and intends to pursue a Ph.D. in early American history.
