Sterling Fluharty received his B.A. in History from Brigham Young University. In 2003, he received his M.A. in History from the University of Oklahoma. He is working with Prof. Robert Griswold on a dissertation about the Native American student-youth movement of the Sixties. He has presented his work at local, regional, and national conferences. He has published an article in the Western Historical Quarterly and served as a committee member for the Western History Association. He has received over $40,000 in dissertation research funding from various organizations. He is a blogger who has advocated for reform within the historical profession. In 2009 he will be speaking with Robert B. Townsend at the annual convention of the American Historical Association about the academic job market in history. He is also retooling as a digital historian to prepare for the next era of historical research and practice.
