| Jeff Fortney |
| Jeff Fortney received his B.A. in History and Psychology from University of North Texas and his M.A. in American history also from University of North Texas. His M.A. thesis examined African slaveholding by the Choctaw Nation during the post-removal period with a focus on social changes and political ramifications. While completing his B.A. and M.A., he presented three research papers at Phi Alpha Theta regional conferences in Omaha, Nebraska, Memphis, Tennessee, and Denton, Texas. He will also be presenting research on Native Americans in World War I at the 2010 Ethnohistory Conference in Ottawa. Fortney is currently working with Dr. Fay Yarbrough on a project concerning anti-slavery movements among Choctaws and Cherokees. He is also completing a book review of Fanatical Schemes: Proslavery Rhetoric and the Tragedy of Consensus that will be published in Southern Historian. |
