Bethany Mowry

Bethany R. Mowry is a Ph.D. candidate studying maritime history with Dr. Paul Gilje. She received a B.A. in history from Washburn University in 2008, and completed her M.A. in Atlantic history at the University of Pittsburgh in 2010. Bethany has presented her work at numerous conferences, including the Phi Alpha Theta Biennial Convention, the Kansas Association of Historians’ annual meeting, the Southwest Popular/American Culture Association’s annual conference, and the North American Conference on British Studies. Her dissertation will focus on the business, reciprocal, and intimate relationships between men and women on the eighteenth-century Philadelphia waterfront.
