Moira Waterbury is an Assistant Professor of Human Relations and has been on the full-time resident faculty since 1996. She taught courses in Advanced Programs in the early 1980s as an adjunct, and taught courses regularly on the main campus for several years before joining the regular faculty.
Her academic background includes an honors bachelor's degree in European history from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Canada, her home; a graduate certificate in English and history education from the University of Toronto; a year of graduate work in English history at the University of Wisconsin; a master's degree in social work from the University of Oklahoma; and a Doctor of Ministry degree in spiritual direction from the Graduate Theological Foundation in Indiana .
Her clinical experience includes 10 years as program director of the Norman Alcohol and Drug Treatment Center, including three years on part-time loan to the State of Oklahoma to plan and implement AIDS training for mental health and substance abuse counselors; four years as therapist at Red Rock Mental Health Center, Oklahoma City; and several years in private practice. She is licensed as a clinical social worker (LCSW), professional counselor (LPC) and marital and family therapist (LMFT) by the state.
