AcademicsFaculty in the Department of Health and Exercise Science believe that undergraduate students should receive both broad educational preparation and disciplinary specialization in order to prepare effectively for future professional demands. This includes a strong general education curriculum that emphasizes the biological and behavioral sciences and a core of requisite coursework in HES. The department encourages undergraduate participation in the Honors College, departmental research projects, internship and fieldwork experiences, and membership in professional organizations and societies. All such activities are designed to enhance the basic academic preparation associated with coursework in the core and elective blocks. Students interested in advanced study in Health and Exercise Science are encouraged to explore our MS and PhD programs. Please refer to the curriculum and research interests of individual faculty to identify available areas of programmatic and research emphasis. Our MS degree is available with concentrations in Exercise Physiology and Health Promotion. Qualified students can pursue a PhD in the disciplines of Exercise Physiology or Health Promotion. |
