Bio

I grew up in Perú, with love for my language and culture, and this is where I first developed my vocation as an educator. I have been teaching Spanish at the University of Oklahoma for more than 20 years. Helping students to develop their abilities to communicate in Spanish and to discover Latinx culture in the US and the cultures of Spain and Latin America are my passion.

I have led or participated in study abroad experiences in Peru, Mexico, Cuba, and Italy, serving as Faculty in Residence for one year in both Arezzo, Italy and Puebla, México. I also served as the Coordinator for Intermediate Spanish for five years. I have taught many different Spanish courses, including Honors classes, and I most often teach Beginning Spanish, Grammar in Conversational Communication, and Medical Spanish (a service-learning course). I have also served as an advisor for the Peruvian Students Association, and I organized numerous inter-cultural events when I served as Faculty in Residence at the Cross Village domitories on the OU campus.
