CORTEZ A.M. EWING PUBLIC SERVICE FELLOWSHIP
UNIVERSITY OF OKLAHOMA

The Department of Political Science announces renewal of a grant from the Cortez A.M. Ewing Endowment to support student Public Service Fellowships. Four fellowships will be awarded for Summer, 2009. Students receiving the awards will serve as fellows in congressional offices or governmental agencies in Washington, D.C.

Eligibility
Sophomores and Juniors from any academic major are eligible to apply. Preference will be given to those students who have not had a similar experience. The student is expected to have an interest in working during the summer months in a national government agency or congressional office in Washington, D.C. Students with diverse academic and career interests are encouraged to apply.

Selection
The student is required, as part of the application for a Ewing Fellowship, to submit an essay and to obtain two recommendations, at least one of which must be from a faculty member. Applications will be evaluated by a committee consisting of faculty members and undergraduate student representatives. The committee may interview candidates after consideration of the materials that are submitted. The Awards Committee will then contact congressmen and government officials to make the necessary arrangements to employ the students who were selected to receive fellowships.
