Spend the summer in the corridors of power. Network with the political players. Learn the language of the Beltway. Ewing Fellowships include $500 travel grant, $3,500 grant for living expenses, additional scholarship assistance if needed, an academic credit option.Ewing Fellows have interned with such Congressional offices and government agencies as Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (Texas), Representative Charles Norwood (Georgia), Federal Bureau of Prisons, U. S. Department of State, Organization of American States (OAS), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), U. S. Department of Justice, Senator Don Nickles, Representative Wes Watkins, Representative J. C. Watts, Jr., Representative Frank Lucas, Representative Ernest Istook, Representative Brad Carson, Appropriate Technology International, Institute for International Education, Representative Joel Hefley (Colorado), and Institute on Religion and Democracy.
Students with diverse academic and career interests are encouraged to apply. Four to six fellowships will be awarded. Open to all OU undergraduates (sophomores & above). THE WASHINGTON INTERNSHIP INSTITUTE
The Washington Internship Institute (WII), a project of the Institute for Experiential Learning (IEL), sponsors internships in Washington, D.C. in their Capitol Experience program. Students can enroll for fall, spring, or summer internships. Students work four days a week and attend two academic seminars the other day. WII provides placement, housing, supervision, counseling, and the academic seminars. The program is academically oriented and does charge for tuition and housing. In addition to the application, you must include a writing sample, college transcript and three letters of recommendation. Applicants also should have completed, or are completing, their sophomore year of college. College credit can often be earned. Check with your school to determine what specific requirements must be met.
